Ten Reasons to Be a Business Owner

We live in uncertain times. All around us companies that have been considered long standing, strong and secure are down sizing, and even selling out. Companies that stay in business often cut back on their benefits such as health and retirement. The era of getting a job, moving up the corporate ladder and retiring with the gold watch is in the past. Even if your job is not in jeopardy, as your life progresses, your children grow up and move away and you find yourself in a higher tax bracket with fewer tax deductions. Many people live in fear and scarcity wondering if they are going to have to work until they die just to have the basic necessities of life. Is all lost? Of course not!

With all the uncertainty there is still hope and ways of creating security for the future. The key is finding your passion in life and investing in your self. Starting your own business is one of those ways that can create many benefits. Here are the top ten reasons to be a business owner.

1. Job Security. Business owners have job security. They never lay themselves off. As a matter of fact if business slows they have the option of doing what it takes to increase sales.

2. Maximum Pay. Business owners choose their wage. They can create more business when they need or want more money. Employees work to make the business owner rich.

3. Flexibility. Business owners can choose their work schedule. They can plan around family events such as weddings, ball games and school programs. Vacations can be incorporated into business trips.

4. Control. Business owners are free from being told what to do and when to do it. There is no supervisor to answer to, judge them or look over their shoulders.

5. Tax Benefits. Business owners have the advantage of more tax savings than employees. There are things that are deductible such as a home office which includes deducting a portion of utilities, insurance, taxes, interest and improvements. These expenses you would be paying for anyway, but if you have a business they can become tax deductible. This is just one example – there are many more.

6. Enjoyment. Business owners enjoy their work because they choose a job they like. If you choose a business that you are passionate about you will not only enjoy it but you will be successful as well.

7. Fulfilment. When you are doing a work that you enjoy and feel is important it is fulfilling. Business owners constantly set goals and reach them. They take pride in their work which leads to self esteem.

8. Product flexibility. An employee has to push whatever product the company says to. Business owners have the flexibility to change products and services according to the market. If a product or service becomes outdated or unpopular it is exciting to move on and keep up with the times.

9. Enthusiasm. Business owners who love the products and services they offer have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm attracts more business. Customers will always come back to a business that shows enthusiasm and a love for what they do. It is a positive energy that creates synergy and always produces success.

10. Retirement. In today’s world, retirement is unsure and risky. People who have worked for the same company plan on a good retirement and then one day it is gone. Creating a business that you love can last long beyond retirement age. Business owners can train others to run their business and when they choose to retire, it can be with a good passive income.

Yes, I do. I am also a small business owner. Obama has NEVER ONCE differentiated between Profit and Personal Income. Further, Obama has NEVER ONCE detailed how or what types of profits will be taxed.

By the way, there is a direct coorelation between the Bush Tax Cuts and the UNPRECEDENTED growth and economic success that we experienced through his administration until last year when the housing market (an entirely separate situation) began to crumble.

Compare the Bush Administration to that of Jimmy Carter who did EXACTLY what Obama is proposing. The Carter Administration directly led to the highest inflation in the history of the US, double-digit unemployment and interest rates, the lowest GDP seen since the Great Depression, and the only time since the depression that annual household income actually fell.

I'm going to be brutally blunt:

The best way to bless someone in relation to Amway is to never bring it up with them.

The instant I have a friend try to sell me Amway (or any other of the MLM products), I know they're not really my friend. They see me as a source of easy income.

I heartily endorse your leaving the organisation. As to your materials, I would politely suggest that you destroy, and then dispose of them in a manner consistent with environmental standards.

    Best of luck.

sorry but i didn't really read what you wrote but i really do love the harry potter seires, and the twilight series too! and yeah i definetly agree with you about the twilight and harry potter haters, gorw up ppl. if you dun even like them, then don't even respond to this question. everyone has their own oppinion on what they like, so just if someone likes something that you don't, doesn't make it stupid!!!
but anyways, i'm pretty sure that your essay is great, especially since you're a true harry potter fan!!!

You know, family-owned businesses are all like that. They own the business, so they can take out as much as they want for family members. It isn't about fairness at all.

You'll never be anything but a hired hand if you work at any family business. You could get to be a very valuable hired hand, but they'll still take money out for family members whenever they want.

Skillful restaurant managers are rare enough. You should, if you look around for a while, be able to find another place to work. Then you should decide what you want to ask for, and what you're willing to settle for. For example:

    – I want a five-day week and a $5,000 raise.
    – I will settle for a five-day week every other week and a $3,000 raise.

When you negotiate, don't tell them what you'll settle for. Ask for what you want. If you don't get what you're willing to settle for, you're outta there.

    They'll respect an honest negotiation.

I just can't put my finger on just one. But I do think Bloodhorse has them listed in the proper order. I loved the Fog too. I saw him run at Belmont the year before he died. When he died I sent Harry Aleo a card and told him that I had been keeping up with Fog and hoping for his recovery. He sent me a hand written note along with a beautiful picture of Fog with his date of birth and date of death on it. I took both the note and the picture and had them framed in the same fram. It hangs in my computer room right now. Do you know how Fog got his name? When he was a baby he was standing out in the pasture. It was a cold foggy morning. His then owner looked out in the pasture and saw him and said,"He looks like he is lost in the fog". So that is how he got his name. He was a great sprinter, and also one of my fav's too.

Yes I wrote a letter to Mr. Aleo. I could not believe he wrote me back in his own handwriting. I will always treasure it.

Yeah, you should try to find a lawyer. Assuming you were going to say you were fired, you appear to have a prima facie case for retaliatory discharge in violation of public policy. Your damages probably won't be great, but I bet there's a fee shifting provision in the law, which means they'll have to pay your attorney. Contact your local bar association, get a referral.

    Stop the Hate
As I am sitting at a table in a Denny’s restaurant, I couldn't help but notice an African-American couple being ignored by their waitress. Everyone else was being tended to except for that one table. It wasn’t until they made a scene in the restaurant that caught everyone’s attention. (this sentence does not sound complete) Discrimination against ethnicity and religion is still one of the most controversial problems we have today. Who are we to judge someone else differently because they don’t have the same skin color? Many of us are still either victims of this hatred or we are witnesses. When will the hatred stop? One of the greatest reasons for violence on the street is racial issues. By showing hatred towards one another, it makes it difficult for the entire community to thrive. When you push someone into a corner, sooner or later they will have no choice but to fight back.
There was an incident back in 1992 that later led to one of the longest and darkest hours in Los Angeles. “Ten years ago Monday, a jury in the Los Angeles suburb of Simi Valley acquitted the four white Los Angeles police officers who had been caught on home video repeatedly clubbing King, who had led them on a car chase they tried to stop him for speeding” (Smith Par.1).(There actually no need to quote this word for word as long as you do internal citations, I personally think it would be stronger if you paraphrased this quotation) This incident really shows how much racial discrimination there is in this world. Even those who swore to protect and serve would commit these types of heinous crimes. Would this incident have been different if the four police officers pulled over a Caucasian for speeding, or would they have done the same to him as to Rodney King? Being clubbed without any questioning or real reason besides anger is violating his civil rights. “Los Angeles officials settle Kings claim against the city for $3.8 million” (Smith Par.21). (again try paraphrasing) Immediately after the Kings case passed, retaliation against racial discrimination began in the streets of Los Angeles.
This incident led to the greatest riot Los Angeles had ever witnessed. After hearing of the Kings case, African-Americans in the South Central area wanted to set things right their own way. “That afternoon, television viewers watched in horror as a white truck driver Reginald Denny, was pulled from his cab and beaten at the corner of Florence and Normandie Avenue, in the mostly black South Central neighborhood” (Smith Par 4)(paraphrase) they wanted to prove to the world that they were willing to fight back. For example, this innocent truck driver probably didn’t do anything wrong, but was just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Inflicting racial violence upon one another does not solve anything. Starting the riot in Los Angeles to vindicate themselves caused the fall of their community. Houses and stores were set in flames. Many were killed and thousands were wounded. This riot led to much other discriminating violence.
Blacks were loitering every single store including markets and liquor stores. The riot led straight into Korea Town where small business owners had no choice but to protect their own businesses because the cops were no longer the authority of the area. Korean liquor store owners were camping on top of their stores with bullet proof vest and rifles. They were taking all precautions and measurements to protect their private investments. When one Korean business owner started protecting his property it started a chain to all Korean business owners. Many were killed and injured due to the shootouts. What does this riot really prove?
There’s no peace when you take violence and add it with violence. We already know what happened to Rodney King was wrong and uncivil, but adding more violence only leads to more pain. To live in a thriving community is living in peace with one another; no matter what the color of you skin, because there is only one human race. We should stop living against one another, and start living with one another.

Yeah well I corrected most of the grammar. but yeah if your essay is solely about racism, it kind of strays off topic. You start to argue about not adding violence on to violence. So yeah, that's it for me. Good Luck :D
