Question about business
How do I start a successful retail business?I need assistance to get my questions answered regarding starting a retail business:
1. Which retail business would be best to start and why: a) Specialty retail business or b) Mail order business?
2. Which type of business is more predictable and does not change often: Specialty retail or mail order?
3. Many people say that PASSION is important when it comes to starting a business because the owner will have to work long hour to make his or her business a success. I agree with that but can you explain to me why there are many people out there who started their successful businesses outside their PASSION?
4. How can I choose products and services to sell that fit my personality and are part of my values?
5. I took a Myers-Briggs personality test and the result of the test shows that my personality type is an ISFJ (Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, Judging). Would someone like me who possess this personality type can become successful in operating his or her retail business?
In business, there are basically two types of business people in the world. The first type is the entrepreneur who runs their business alone because they have a better clue of what business offers and therefore can run a much stable business with their own approach. The second type is those who believe in using the latest and current technology to improve on their business. They go as far as using the latest internet technology and industry standards to help in operating their business. This kind of business people can be referred as the internet enthusiasts.
Which one do you fall under? Maybe you feel that you should resolve to internet business or remain as a sole business person. It’s all your choice but believe me, there are various benefits of taking your business online. The following are some of the benefits of taking your business online;

Since the net being more efficient and cost effective as compared to the papers that you might have been using for a long period of time, you save on costs. Adverts on the papers may be misleading at times because of misinterpretation of information, but the internet is always up to the mark.
Easy Access to Information:
Since information on the internet is available and accessible all the time, day and night, you will be able to gain access to your business at any time, from anywhere around the world. Weather in your office, in a remote location, or even at home, you can gain access to the information especially when you need them most.
Increased Productivity:
Since you will spend less time and money running your business, you get to acquire a lot of savings and therefore invest more of your resources to grow the business and manage some of your projects. In this case you find a special reason to take your business online.
Client Satisfaction:
Because of the very many benefits you get by taking your business online, you get to concentrate much on your clients. By devoting more time to their projects and needs, you ultimately increase customer satisfaction.
Minimize or Cut back on Resources:
By implementing such things as customer support ticket system and phone system, you minimize much on your resources. Your customers will be in a position to submit an online ticket and be able to instantly receive an email response to their questions in just minutes.

It would be worthwhile for you to get a book, do some research and study the different types of corporate structure – sole proprietorship, LLC, or corporation. They behave differently in terms of how you handle money, the work of organizing, and how profits are encapsulated and taxed. Think about which one will serve you the best as compared to what you're doing now, which may also be fine.
I don't believe it'll cause new taxes but you're sure to run into fees on corporate structures like the above. I would expect you'd also be required to pay state sales tax on in-state sales. (can you pass that onto the buyer or would that blow a competitive edge?)
Also, you may find that as a business, you pay more for the same services than a consumer does, such as a telephone line or a checking account.

If you paid for it with a credit card, dispute the charge with your credit card company. Don't wait for a refund. Call your credit card company NOW.
Also, if you gave these people your credit card number, you should tell your credit card company that you suspect fraud on your account and request a new card.
I do hope you didn't give them your Social Security number too. If you did, call the Social Security Administration on Tuesday and report the potential fraud.

This situation depends on a person by person basis. For some people, online schooling is simply not an effective option. For others, it's the best choice.
For those that travel often, it is often a great idea. However, one concern is that you need to ensure you will have a reliable internet connection wherever you go. You may also need, at times, to print things out.
Another matter to consider is that, although there is a professor for the course, they are not physically there for you, and not having that type of pressure causes some people to slack in their work. Before embarking on online schooling, you need to make sure that you will be putting forth your best effort.
I'd like to note that as a traveler, constant changes of scenery make a photography course particularly convenient. One thing many struggle with in traditional classes is that in a small community, it's easy to run out of things to use for projects. Because your scenery will change often, you will have more experiences to photograph, and preserve memories at the same time.
All in all, the choice of whether or not to pursue online education varies from person to person. I have a friend who tried it but did not complete her program because, without the constant pressure of having her professor right in front of her, she slacked and didn't get things done when she needed to. On the other hand, a relative of mine completed online schooling. She is now in a medical profession.
On a side note — I recommend you check with the school beforehand to find out whether film developing will be covered by the course. Developing requires the ability to set up a darkroom with absolutely "real" light, an abundance of chemicals, and it is very helpful to have running water. While the fact that you are traveling won't necessary render you unable to set up a darkroom, it will make it more difficult, and it might be important for you to discuss the issue with a professor before enrolling.
Good luck!

check with the department of revenue (or whatever it is called in NJ) and ask what the taxes are on an S-corporation and on a Limited Liability Company and a partnership.
As far as the IRS is concerned the taxes are basically the same for all three. The profits, whether distributed or not, are allocated to the partners/shareholders who pay the taxes. The business doesn't pay any federal income tax.
There is no reason to change from an LLC at this time.

I suggest you join forums or internet marketing groups, that is where I get loads of advices and tips in web marketing. I too do not have knowledge about how online business works before.
you must have ideas on what to sell or what service to offer so that you can create a business plan.

PHP is a pretty simple language to learn. It's pretty straight forward and free! Lots of user support. I recommend w3schools.com and php.net.
If your unfamiliar with php and mysql (what good is a scripting language with out a database?) I would recommend a program that has a "all in one" install.
WAMP: (Windows, Apache, Mysql, Php), its free….

My friend graduated with a 2 year degree in computer science, I have a 4 year degree (same school, same classes). He is one helluva programmer and learned it all from a book! His computer science degree came later on because people like to see "credentials".
Doesn't matter where or how you learn it! It's about ambition (and that is what holds me back)
