Question about business
How to write a business proposal for selling a at home business?I have my own wedding and event planning business and I am interested in selling in it. I really want to know the format of a business proposal for selling a business and I would really like to see an example of a business proposal for selling a business (comes with existing advertising and a website). I want a sample so that I can get an idea. Please do not tell me tips. I really would like to see a sample of a proposal for selling a business.
The failure rate of small businesses is painful to see. With a little preplanning and consistent efforts in the right areas …. this doesn’t have to happen.
First, I see far too many people who think starting a business means the till is their personal money and owning a business means not having to work. They don’t come into prepared and give up far too easily when they realize people are not beating down their door to do business with them.
So what are the biggest reasons behind the high failure rate of small businesses …. and what can YOU do about it?
1. early burn out (poor planning)
2. no capital
3. no business plan / expectations / strategy
Burn Out:
Owners try to be both managers and technicians in the business and it drives them batty. They love doing something, so start a business, but then find that as it grows they have no life. You must be ready to start a business and then step out of the “do” part of it so you can remain energized and expand efficiently.
One useful metaphor is to think of your business as if you were going to franchise it. You will need to hire relatively unskilled people to operate the business – you cannot be at 20 locations at once. So you develop operations manuals and specific processes that are easy to train new people on. This lets you step outside the operation and assign it to someone. You can then use your time for strategy, growth, or personal development. You won’t burn out.
Capital:
You need money to grow a business. The presence of ops manuals and a clear business plan are impressive to those who provide money. Getting capital will be vitally important to your success. Getting yourself set up with a Dunn and Bradstreet number, a business specific credit card, and other credit-building assets is urgently important.
Business Plan:
You’ve heard this before – no business plan, no success. It doesn’t have to be formal, but it must be well thought out. Get help if you can. There are links in the Recommended Resources at Small Business Resources Cafe which can help with that.
Looking from a different view …. many small businesses are actually quite successful, IF, they have a good product or service at the right time and have good luck. Seriously, alot of small business success happens because of timing and luck than skill.
The trouble starts when those two run out. It is usually timing that goes first : The economy changes, a better widget comes out after yours, your product/service/industry gets bad press, etc. This is when the business spiral downwards. This is when you have to use your brain and know when to seek outside help.
It’s rather easy to make a go of a small busness with luck and timing on your side. It takes a solid plan, discipline and strong problem solving skills when you lose those two attributes.
My best advice is to build your business to grow. Then plan that it will dip …. and plan for the dip by reinventing your business with new ideas and thoughts. Often these innovations come from an outsider, such as a consultant who can view your business objectively. Then, your job as the owner is to listen and respond accordingly!
Above all though, never forget that business is about making money, and making money is about sales. If you concentrate on sales and manage cash flow, then you should be able to make it out of the start up phase and grow a very healthy business for the long run.

China is really taking this advice to heart. Even now the Chinese government is investing heavily in the African oil and minerals sector, using their expertise to help African countries upgrade their infrastructure (roads, electricity, pipelines etc.), and providing cheap capital for African countries to exploit and grow, thereby making many friends and allies in the process. China is helping them grow, gaining strong geopolitical influence and privileged access to growing markets.

Sorry Mrs Ngozi, you’re well educated, but Nigeria is a s***hole. The corruption is deeper than a black hole. Maybe, just maybe, if Nigeria started with something as little as (um… i don’t know) STABLE ELECTRICITY???
I don’t know how a nation is meant to develop, let alone tackle corruption if the electricity is constantly being switched off on random daily basis. Start with a stable power supply and then i’ll take you seriously.

Your reasoning is fairly weak. Ngozi explained it well and I think a lot of people understand, because I sure did.
What you need to come to terms with is that your views hold extremely little significance here.

chinnyization, you have brashfully expressed your thoughts (and I dare say without proper reason). I agree with Bladen12345 that your argument is very weak. You obviously have misunderstood Ngozi; she is making a point on the power of foreign direct investment. I am sure that she pointed out that african governments have their failings, but her aim is to illustrate the wisdom of higher FDI as a better means of aiding africa as opposed to ‘Charity Aid’.

I am not going to lie. I thought that Obama would have been different than the typical puppet for the plutocrats. I was wrong.
The consolidation of wealth into the top 1% of the rich has accelerated under Obama. Furthermore, the average worker is now working harder than he ever has, and is getting paid less for it. All the while, the worker is being used by the rich oligarchs.
Historically, business downturns witness a decrease or stagnation in worker productivity. The current economic crisis is different. Worker productivity has increased rapidly in recent months. While productivity increased by more than six percent in the second quarter, labor costs tumbled by 5.9 percent.
This is part of a longer trend in the US economy. “Between 2000 and 2007, the average American worker’s productivity rose 19.2%, yet more of those gains are going to top managers,” “Adjusted for inflation, average wages have grown just 0.7% per year since June 2000. In 1979, the ratio between the average CEO’s pay and the typical workers pay was 27 to 1. By 2007, it had widened to 275 to 1.”
This is not the social change I voted for, this is the same ultra right wing conservative economics that I have come to loathe. I have lost all hope for this country, and as other countries are falling in line with the USA and following their pattern, at the behest of the World Bank (a puppet of the USA plutocracy) and the IMF, I do not know where to turn for a decent place to live where I can be treated fairly.
The funniest part, which is also ironically the saddest part of all this is that 1/2 of all America believes that Obama is a socialist. In reality, he is nothing more than a capitalist puppet. No liberal minded person would ever confuse Obama with anything related to socialism. However, the oligarchy in the USA has successfully convinced the radical extreme conservatives that Obama is a socialist, and convinced Americans that socialism is bad.
It is truly a dark time we live in.

Well, like you said in the beginning, you visited the store because you intended to help small businesses. However, the customer service was horrible because the guy was a total asshole, and I believe you did the correct thing when you refrained from visiting the store. However, do complain to the store about poor customer service. Doing so would the company correct it’s mistake, because, as you said, other customers had similar experiences, and chances are, they’ stop visiting too. Therefore, complain much about poor customer service as you can, and have people you know with similar experiences do they same so they can improve their behavior and keep their customers. Maybe then, you’d notice them improve, and you can visit them again.

Why open a business when the governement rides your butt with taxes?
Why hire more employees? Why claim bankruptcy?
Why try and make more money when you are into a different tax bracket?
Seems like our government likes to punish people who strive to make it in this country. What are the incentives? None? Why even try when the deck is stacked against you?

My reasoning may hold very little significance on HERE,but at least people like you are reading it.Whatever you may think might be better, doesn’t change the fact the TALK IS CHEAP!!! I LOVE NGOZI FOR WHAT SHE STANDS FOR,BUT IF SHE REALLY IS DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE OTHER CROOKS THERE HAS TO BE SOME OBVIOUS RESULTS FOR WHAT SHE STANDS FOR!WE DON’T NEED ANY MORE TALKS,and I don’t need anymore talks with you,SINCE YOU SEEM NOT TO REALIZE THAT ANY TALK WITH NO RESULT IS OBVIOUSLY CHEAP.GOODLUCK & BYE

I see where you are coming from.
But the illegal immigration thing is really a big business conspiracy that has had the participation of both GOP and democrats over the years. They believe that cheap labor is good.
If you listen to Obama speaking he is always says two things about this 1) that we must not mistreat illegals or become like nazis hunting parents down and jailing them while their kids starve…just for wanting to work and have a decent life. I tend to believe that we need harsh measures like raids and deportation, and the blocking of social benefits..as well as strong border patrols, but its gonna be hard to get politicians to do those very real solutions…because they dont want to turn off large segments of the voting block or give the appearance that we are turning into nazi germany.
2) OBama, however, always says this, that we must not allow employers to profit from abusing illegals because they are in the shadows and have no rights and that we must work to solve the problem. This gives me hope that he understands that we must increase border patrols and that we must crack down on illegal employers. Unfortunately, I believe he will support some form of amnesty..which is the easy way out for most politicians. As bad as amnesty sounds, I will gladly accept it, if we actually put an end to the influx and devise ways to make sure this problem never happens again.

Part of the reason the French economy sucks is because the biggest industry in France is tourism. There has been a big drop in American tourists since the begining of the Iraqi liberation. Follow the money.
